PAWER. No more arthrosis.

Stories of cured dogs.

Read the stories told by some owners who decided to treat their dogs with PAWER therapy.

Oliver

Golden Retriever. 10 years old.
Severe arthrosis in his left hip and right knee.

Can you please tell us Oliver's story?

Unfortunately, Oliver had his first surgery when he was only seven months old for an elbow dysplasia. Later he had another operation for a problem with his hips. After that, he was in good health until five, but then he started limping.

How was limping affecting his daily life?

It meant not being able to carry a normal happy dog life: he couldn't jump, run or simply go for a walk. We spoke to our vet and we did several joint infiltrations, and overall everything was under control, with its ups and downs, till last spring. He also took anti-inflammatory drugs.

Did the infiltrations and the anti-inflammatories help to completely restore Oliver's joint functions?

No, they didn't. They worked only temporarily.

Did Oliver depend on the use of his drugs?

Unfortunately, yes.

How dramatic did his situation get last spring?

Despite the anti-inflammatories, Oliver couldn't go out for a walk with my husband, he couldn't come up the stairs and he was evidently limping. He was sad because he could see the other dogs of the house playing around. He got worse and worse and we were thinking to do more infiltrations. He couldn't even swim because it was too hard for him.

So you decided to try PAWER therapy. What happened after the treatment?

After the treatments the situation didn't change right away, but it kept improving steadily during the following weeks.

How has Oliver been in the following six months after the therapy?

He is in good health! He takes his walk; at the beginning we started gradually, and today he takes even two walks a day. He carries a proper dog life and he is not sad anymore. He also made a habit of accompanying my husband to the café every morning at 8.00 he stands at the door ready to go with him.

Given the results obtained with this therapy, if one of your dogs had arthrosis, would you prefer PAWER to other anti-inflammatory treatments?

Definitely, given the results we saw. I consider myself very satisfied and I'm happy. I knew about the application of stem cells in the treatment of human pathologies, but I couldn't imagine it possible for animals. The results are real and amazing.

Nike

Labrador. 7 years old and a half.
Severe arthrosis in all her legs.

Nike was cured three years ago: what were her problems?

When she was a cub, Nike had big problems at her front legs joints and she also had severe lameness. When she was four, her front leg was clearly limping. She didn't run willingly anymore and we couldn't take her to the mountains. After an hour and a half walk she would remain still for a week.

Which therapeutically approach did you try first?

We had had some results with anti-inflammatories. But soon after a run or a jump Nike would limp again seriously. Therefore we decided to try out this new therapy.

Can you tell us about the steps you followed?

The x-rays showed us that she had arthrosis pretty much in all her joints. So, we decided to apply the treatment to all of them. There has been no problem of sort either with the anaesthesia or with the extraction of adipose tissue, which was very easy. The cells re-injection was largely a routine procedure; Nike woke easily soon after it and she could immediately walk as if nothing had happened.

How long after the therapy did you notice the first results?

After a month, maybe two, Nike was indeed a lot better. She didn't limp anymore and she recovered the normal four-year-old dog's exuberance.

How is Nike today, after three years?

Nike is incredibly lively. During these years I decided to have her done some check-up X-rays every so often to keep the situation under control; even after two years and a half there were no changes; it was a great victory. Especially if I think that since she was a few months old and till she was four years old her joint functions kept getting worse so quickly, and now after PAWER therapy she hasn't shown any worsening symptoms.

What do you think of the possibility to store Nike's cells for future treatments?

To know that there is a possibility to repeat the treatment when Nike is old, without need of another surgery, certainly reassures us and it is very positive for Nike.

Would you suggest PAWER therapy to friends or acquaintances with a similar problem?

Definitely. I have already suggested it to several friends, colleagues and acquaintances. This new therapy should be taken in consideration only when the dog is very old or when the situation is too serious and he or she can't walk anymore; it is a therapy that should be started as soon as the problem arises in order to improve the dog's quality of life.

Shogun

Akita Inu. 11 years old.
Severe bilateral hip arthrosis.

Can you please tell us something about Shogun?

Shogun arrived in our family when he was seven. He is a powerful dog, dominant but even-tempered and affectionate. Last year we were attacked by a Spanish Bulldog left free to wander in a wood. He had 15 bites just on his neck and I lost a finger. Since that day, and even after healing, his attitude has changed; he has become quieter and idle, he spends a lot of time with us in our flat.

When did he show his first lameness signs?

Few months ago he started making a lot of efforts when going up the stairs (he would climb only a couple of steps and then he would stare at us and cry). He couldn't get in the car anymore (he needed our help at all times, and it wasn't easy considering he weighs more than 42 kilos). Above all, it was painful to hear him crying at night. His hinder legs used to tremble and from the x-ray we saw how damaged the femoral heads were. We also noticed there was no cartilage left in his joint.

Which therapies did you try?

We tried several solutions. At first, anti-inflammatories, even very powerful ones. We spoke to an orthopaedic doctor who told us there wasn't much left to do. We only did one cycle of analgesic treatment when Shogun was suffering too much, but without great results (let alone the costs!). Then, we tried homeopathic treatments (also very expensive) together with anti-inflammatories when Shogun couldn't cope with the pain. Finally, we were told to put him down to stop him from suffering.

It has been three weeks since Shogun started PAWER therapy: have you noticed any effects?

Shogun is able to use both treated legs to go up the stairs independently and can stretch both legs. We are already starting to go out for walks and getting in the car isn't a problem anymore. When Shogun wakes up in the morning, he is already quite active.

Were there any post-surgical complications?

No, there weren't. Last year he had a bowel surgery and he had woken very slowly from the anaesthesia, let alone that fact that he didn't feel well for days after it. Instead, this time he didn't have any problem during the post-surgical recovery. 20 minutes after the surgery we went straight home and Shogun was already feeling good. Even a normal vaccination against rabies is more painful than PAWER surgical procedure.

And what about the costs?

PAWER therapy is certainly convenient especially considering all the expenses we had to afford before this therapy (for the orthopaedic visits, the painkiller drugs, the homeopathic drugs and nutritional supplements).

How did the therapy affect your daily life and Shogun's?

Our lives changed a lot for the better. Shogun feels a lot better; he is livelier and he seems to have much more strength. During our walks he pulls the leash as he used to do when he was well, he went back to being active and happy. Even in our lives there have been positive changes: before the therapy getting Shogun in the car required always two people; we used to stay up all night when Shogun cried for the pain, it was horrible. It is indeed a new life, for him and for us!

Would you suggest PAWER therapy to other people?

Sure! We have already suggested it to several friends and acquaintances.

Laika

Golden Retriever. 10 years old.
Elbows arthrosis.

What were Laika's symptoms?

Laika has been limping for a couple of months, she couldn't easily get up and when she did she couldn't sustain herself on her paws. After a while, she managed to walk but with difficulties.

What did Laika miss of her normal life before the illness?

Surely the fact that she was always happy and lively. During the illness she became sad, she couldn't run, she was always sitting down, she was very still. It was very sad seeing her in this condition; she wasn't the same dog anymore.

Did you try other therapies before PAWER?

We tried the usual painkiller drugs, but they were useless, we couldn't see any improvements. They used to work for a few days but then Laika got bad and sad as before. Then AnimalCare Clinical Practice suggested us this new therapy.

Is this new therapy working?

We saw improvements after only a few days. Laika seems to be a new dog. She can jump and play effortlessly. It seems as if she has never had any problems! She can easily get up, sit down, run and play with the other cub we own.

How did Laika react to the operation and the anaesthetic procedure she had to undergo?

There were no complications. In fact, we took Laika home soon after the operation. It seemed as if nothing had happened, she was very calm.

Did you choose to store stem cells in case of future treatments?

Yes, we did. Especially in case she has more joints affected by arthrosis in the future.

Considering the results you saw with Laika, would you recommend the therapy to other dogs‘ owners?

Definitely yes. We are extremely satisfied. Laika's life has changed thanks to PAWER therapy and so has our life!
